About the Author

Kingstone
At 19 Brett Kingstone established his first fiber-optic company in his college dorm at Stanford.  He received his first order after strapping a fiber-optic letter "A" onto the back of his motorcycle and raced down California's Highway 5 to visit the Imagineers at Disney.  After nearly blowing up his dormitory, he was urged to take up residence off campus.  The company moved to a small Palo Alto garage.  In 1989, he established Super Vision International, in Orlando, Florida, which has since been regarded as the world's leading manufacturer of fiber optic and LED (Light Emitting Diodes) lighting products.  Super Vision became a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (Symbol: SUPVA) in March 1994.  Super Vision's products light up the skylines of cities throughout the world.  The company's projects include the Coca-Cola bottle in New York's Times Square and the worlds tallest fiber optic structure: the 1,000 foot tall Victoria Arts Center Spire in Melbourne, Australia.  Super Vision has been honored as one of the Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Florida and Top 500 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in the U.S.  Kingstone has awarded numerous U.S. and foreign patents on fiber optic and LED lighting.  He is author of The Student Entrepreneur's Guide (McGraw-Hill, 1990), introduction written by Nobel Prize Winner Milton Friedman, and The Dynamos (John Wiley & Sons, 1987).  His monthly columns have appeared in LD+A (Lighting Design and Application) and Start Magazine. Brett resides in Orlando, Florida.
